Why is it broken?

As some may have noticed, the bot stopped working on the 12th January.

For the bot, it used hpoi’s pagination endpoint to draw the data. Unfortunately they have changed/removed it:

And the pagination does not work on the website ><. Therefore at this stage I cannot replace with with… wherever the endpoint got to. The pagination on the app does work and I may be able to coax something out of it but it’ll take time and finagling. Or maybe hpoi will eventually get around to fixing their website.

Why haven’t I fixed it yet?

Due to mostly the above – I don’t have enough info of how to fix it. Or I’ll need to make it much more limited and just scrape the first page available. However, this would then have a more extreme issue to the bots that hook onto RSS feed – having access to only one page would mean having to scrape more frequently and hoping the first page doesn’t get overloaded.

Also been going through a bit of a difficult time mentally, leading me not being able to concentrate on code outside of work. Took me a week to look into the problem, only to find out the hpoi site itself was broken 🫠

When will I fix it?

Unknown. If the hpoi site gets fixed, then shortly after I notice it is fixed. Otherwise when I have the energy to poke around to see if I can find an alternate solution.
