Category: Action figures (articulated)

Akira Fudo

This guy is the dude who became/is Devilman. This figure portrays him as his mostly human form. Without further ado, here he is:

image

Mmm, nice chest! And those are some very long legs, lol. I like the fact he has some metal chain accessories. He also has some very emo makeup.

Here is his right side, showing his tattoos:

image

The tattoos are nicely done, and there is some nice definition in the arm. His neck looks a little on the long side though, and he’s pretty shiny due to the plastic he’s been made of and the finish chosen. Fairly typical of this kind of figure.

His left side:

image

No tattoos here, but some good arm definition. Bracelet is nicely done.

His back:

image

A fair amount of attention has been paid to his back – a lot of detail in his trousers, and his muscles are well-defined.

He also comes with the Demon Mask:

image

It fits on head decently well – was a bit of a squish getting it on, but there he is, with his eyes staring out.

Back of the mask:

image

Not a super-interesting angle, but the detail is there.

Finally, you can remove his head:

image

And stick on a new one:

image

This is his half-Devilman head, with mini-head-wings. With his head being removable, you can also remove his necklace, if you so wish.

Here is a side shot showing the wings in a bit more detail:

image

Both the heads are solid picks imo, but I will likely display him with this one mostly. His face is too pretty for the Demon Mask, so I’ll likely display it separately.

My collection needed more sexy males, and I find he fits the bill ;).

Mico – Default ver & Limited Color ver

Note: this post will feature boobs scattered throughout. If you’re at work, you’ve now been warned.

After failing to buy the default (green) version from Mandarake, I decided to pick up the black version (limited color ver)  in my large SAHRA order. Some time later, the green version popped up on Yahoo! Auctions Japan, so I decided to go for it, via Buyee. After bidding slightly more than intended, I managed to win her, and worked out cheaper than buying her at Y! marketplace/Amazon.

As I ordered the limited color version first, I shall talk about her first:

image

Was hard to get the focus correct when photographing her, due to her monochrome nature.

Though for a monochrome figure, she reflects the light well to give her detail:

image

The back moulding gives you something to look at.

Here she is without Tollg:

image

She has some details in black, but most of the detail is from the light reflecting off her. On her right side, she does look to have some minor scuffing on her bottom rib, but it isn’t a biggie.

As this one is effectively the least detailed of the three, I will likely display her in her tube:

image

I won’t be demoing the light feature again in this blog – all three of the tubes are the same, barring the paint colour. This one the plastic seems to be in a less scratched state than the purple Mico’s.

Now onto normal-coloured Mico:

image

Happy to have her in her ‘original’ colours. Her Tollg has a different colour painted for its eyes. Kinda need to get to the part of the anime series that features her!

Here she is from the back:

image

Same as the backside of the purple version.

Without Tollg:

image

Even more neon than the purple version, especially her lips! Her vein colours match her Tollg.

Here’s a ¾ view showing more of her veins:

image

Happy to have her, and really liking having most of the set – at least the ones I was interested in.

With these two, the bases are inversions:

image
image

I found this mildly interesting :).

Here are all three of the Micos I now own:

image

There is a fourth silver one, but I’m unlikely to buy it, mostly due to availability, and owning the limited black ver kinda covers the monochrome angle.

If you’re feeling adventurous, you can switch around their Tollgs for an interesting look:

image

I do rather like the purple Tollg on the black Mico.

Here are the three tubes:

image

The darker one belongs to the black Mico, middle one is the default one, and the blue one goes with Acid Purple Mico.

Here are the tops of the tubes, showing the matching details:

image

Not decided if I’m going to display them in proximity of each other or not – will probably come down to space constraints.

Harley Quinn – Mattel ver

In all the B&Ms I’ve visited thus far, I’ve only ever seen the true peg-warmer figures of this set. Recently they were reduced to £5, but I still wasn’t interested in picking up the “meh” characters.

Then I visited Salisbury, and they happened to have just the one Harley! Whilst I didn’t like the Suicide Squad movie, I do love Harley’s look in it.

For me, all the figures  look a little on the tubby side, but she is a bit in the movies. The figures just seem to emphasise it. This figure does have some paint flaws, but I had a choice of… this one or this one. Her left leg is also a bit gappy – not sure if I can fix that.

Shot so you can see the bat:

To me, the bat feels too long, and looking at pics, it is too long. Though it is probably painted better than the figure, lol. I’m guessing the bat was recycled from some other figure, as it should only be as long as the writing on it.

The sculpt isn’t super-detailed, but seems to have the important bits represented. If it wasn’t for the bits of stray paint, it’s not a bad paint job. Don’t think the figure would have been worth full price, but I have got my fiver’s worth.

Left of Harley:

Looks OK, nothing particularly out of place, red circles on her arm give her a bit of a cheap feel.

Right of Harley:

To me, this side seems a bit better, but there’s not a lot in it.

Her back:

Hair ends a bit flat, but she’s complete from this side. Having the clasp on her choker is a nice touch, and the straps for her holsters are nicely detailed. Is some very noticeable slop on her left boot though, from the leg paint.

Overall, it’s not a bad figure, but it definitely has a “toy” feel to it. Kind of surprised that some of the less peg-warm-y figures didn’t hit the cheapo stores, but that’s probably due to a lack of other figures in the cheaper end being available. Maybe if the MAFEX/Figurarts ones were more available here, there may have been more that made it to the cheapo aisles. She’s an OK figure, but I wouldn’t recommend paying over the odds for her.

Parfom Gwendolyn

This figure I was on the fence about ordering, up until her near-release. Went for it, without many days to go. Then she got delayed ><.

Fiiiinally in the new year she turned up!

And wow, is she pretty! These Parfom figures aren’t exactly cheap, but I’m definitely impressed with this one. My only real complaint is the chest articulation, as it tends to look a little odd if she’s not dead-centre. Oh, and the branches to assemble on the “fancy” stand were a pain!

Here she is on the stand sideways:

Her small wings look quite cute.

Back, on the stand:

Here you can see where the detailed base slots over the clear base. Initially, I didn’t realise it did this, and thought she had to balance on it. I then looked her up on MFC, and saw the arm of the clear stand in one picture, and figured it out. Her arm joints do look a little strange from the back, plus some gapping from the aforementioned chest joint.

Left side:

The leaves were much of a pain in the backside to put on than they look. There’s only small dents where they hook in, and no reference pics in the instructions. They’re also not poseable – I split a glued joint whilst trying to figure out how they were supposed to go on the thinner one (on right of pic above). Fortunately it was just some weak glue that gave way, so I glued it back together.

She she comes with three faces:

… and that wasn’t one of them.

Shocked face:

Sleeping face:

The semiserious face is in the other shots, so no real need for another close-up.

She has some large wings you can use instead of the small ones:

From the front:

They also have a joint, so they’re poseable:

Initially I wasn’t planning on using them, but after taking these photos, I changed my mind.

And here is a pose of her on the base with her large wings:

Pretty!

Here she is with the shield, which I didn’t pose her with:

I love the range of accessories the figure comes with, and the colours and design of this character really appeals to me, so glad to have bought at least one version of her.

The next few pics go into detail of the accessories she comes with, and the base, so if this post isn’t enthralling, feel free to stop reading here.

All of the Parfoms come with a clear base:

These bases can be locked together, using some connectors that come with them, but I don’t see myself doing that.

This is how the base fits into the fancy base:

Kinda wish the other Parfoms came with some kind of “stage”, or you could buy one separately to suit them. Maybe they’ll do the latter if enough people suggest it. This one really adds to the figure, without being too massive.

Spare parts:

The small red blob is initially attached into the bottom of the berries she’s holding in the above pics. If you want her to hold the berries, you swap in a piece that has a clear plastic bit for her to hold, but if you just want them in the scene, you can leave the red blob in, and it looks like a full set of berries.

Here’s the large wings, when not plugged into her body:

The smaller wings just have a static plastic rod to attach them, which I think is enough for them. The real fun is in these larger wings :).

And here’s some pantsu, for those who read this far:

Not totally hiding the articulation gaps, but doing the job!

Spawn – Shadowhawk

This is the figure I bought with the one in the previous blog.

Here he is in all his glory:

He certainly remembered to bring a weapon to the fight! Or six. Here’s a close-up of his upper weaponry:

Getting some Wolverine vibes from his face.

Here’s a close-up of the grappling hook:

This weapon actually fires, but it’s more like a spear as it doesn’t have a thread.

Close-up of the gun-knife:

It’s got all the attachments! Not entirely sure if it makes the gun more deadly. You could probably clobber multiple people at once with it though, should he run out of ammo…. Though he does have that pointy knife in the grapple hand.

Here’s his back, showing where the cables are attached at his back:

The cables, unlike most other figures, came attached. Was a bit interesting getting him out of the box, but at least they won’t have the distinct disadvantage of falling out. Does mean you can’t display him without his weapons, but I’m not bothered about that.

Side shot of the wiring:

This was originally the shot for the gun, but it came out clearer in the other pic. So you can admire his clawed hand on this side, which also has the notch for the grappling gun.

So if you like your action figures armed to the teeth, this one is for you! Not sure I would’ve picked him up if it weren’t for the freebies the comic shop guy threw in, but getting him out of the box, he’s grown on me. Especially in the first photo in this blog, he does cut an imposing stance.

She-Spawn

Bought this from a comic book shop in Bath, along with another Spawn figure (coming soon!).

She had a few parts to assemble – the “gun”, shoulder armour and leg armour, plus the sword she has in her right hand. Without the accoutrements, she’s quite a slender figure with them… well, she’s quite bulky now. But not quite Spawn bulky.

Here’s a closer shot of her upper half & shoulder-mount… thing:

Mmm, skull boobs :P. The launcher on her shoulder can figure the spear in he beast’s mouth.

Other side of the launcher:

Is quite a big thing, with an articulated ‘tail’.

The back of She-Spawn

Her hair is rather like an extended soft paintbrush, but it is a nice touch I like that some of the Spawn figures have. Enough details on the back for her to feel complete as a figure.

Despite the amount of attachments, she was surprisingly easy to balance, though there is the option not to equip everything. The shoulder cannon does leave an odd hole, but the other two parts are simply clipped on. Her one annoying part is the sword – it’s not very well shaped to her hand, so she doesn’t grip it well. It just about wedges in there, but I can see myself white-tacking this in future (or boxing it). My favourite details are her asymmetric belts and the skulls ;).

Devilman Mico Acid Purple ver.

So this is a character from Devilman. One day I’ll watch the shows and read the manga so I know all about these characters… what I do know is this one is symbiotic with a demon, which is the purple part, and it is called Tollg.

So here she is, straight out of the box:

image

Pretty decent for this kind of figure, lacking if you’re not into this older style of action figure. She does have a hat that I dismissed at first, but after putting it on, she does look pretty nifty with it:

image

There will be no back shots at this stage… as she has a bare butt.

She also comes with an “experimental chamber” you can put her in:

image

Which I think looks pretty cool :D. Then again, I’m a weirdo. I also love the blue colour. And, hey, the experiments aren’t bad too!

Here’s a closeup of the details on top:

image

And here’s the back:

image

Not much to see, barring the battery compartment. I do have the cover – it was elsewhere when I was taking photos. Two AA batteries just fit in there. Took a fair bit of effort to get them in properly, so that the flap will shut – the feature can work if the battery is slightly out, but the cover wouldn’t fit back on like that. Needed to use a doodad to push battery next to the spring as far back as it would go to squeeze the batteries in there. Not sure how getting them out will go…

Now why are there no pics of the light feature? One, it’s not too impressive to look at – it’s two LEDs, one at the top, one at the bottom. Though the main reason I didn’t try to photograph it, is the LEDs are only on when you hold down the button at the front. Part of me is tempted to mod it so there’s a sliding switch at the back, but I’d have to take it apart to see the feasibility. Also there’s the temptation to wait – if I have a place near a power source, I could potentially wire it into a lighting system.

The remainder of my photos are NSFW, so here’s my conclusions. The articulation on this figure is largely pointless – it’s not very interesting, and the paintwork means moving her arms makes her look funny, though this is hidden by the symbiotic Tollg, when she’s wearing it. The hat looked kinda crap in the box, but looks better on, which was nice. The chamber is a solid addition, though mine had some mild scuffing, despite the outer box being sealed. Naked, she has the orangiest nipples, but she’s erm, accurate in other places. All in all, I like this figure, and I think I paid a fair price for her.

Here’s a pic of her without Tollg:

image

See what I mean by the super-orange nipples? Her body is anorexic, which I’m in two minds about. Also note they modelled her labia, which some castoffs don’t have, lol.

Here’s a closeup of her upper half:

image

That’s some orange boobage, with some paint smear that got in between her boobs. Guess she’s had some fun with spicy sauce? It’s a complimentary colour to the purple, but I dunno. It’s just a bit too unreal.

And here’s her back:

image

Some effort on the sculpting here, but seems like a “ok, that looks passable, done now” job. More accurate than a barbie, but lacking in polish, most notably her shoulderblades, the back of her knees, and those elbows seem to have boils on them. I won’t be seeing her back a lot though.

Secondary conclusion: She can be displayed naked, but I feel she was mostly designed with Tollg in mind. I have ordered the green version, so I may display one with, one without, or both with Tollg.

Figure Spotlight – Headless Horseman & Sinister Squashling

Say hello to WoW’s Headless Horseman:

image

This figure I bought in 2012, and he’s still as awesome as the day I got him. He comes with a “base” featuring his horse bursting from the ground:

image

It has one peg for his right foot, so the base only semi-stabilises him, This is probably the weakest part of the figure – he can be a bit prone to falling on his backside whilst you’re posing him, but once posed, he does tend to stay. His armour is on point though.

Here is a couple of closeups of the horse:

image
image
image

The texture’s done nicely on this figure, and the plastic surface feels rougher than your average figure, which fits in with the theme of this figure nicely.

His cape has a great sense of movement, but also a pain to dust because of this:

image

His head is also detachable:

image

Which is kind of essential for a headless horseman!

If that amount of awesome wasn’t enough, he also came with a sinister squashling, which was a mob that attacked during the encounter, and you could get it as a pet:

image

Side shot showing the stem:

image

I remember wanting to get this figure in no small part thanks to the squashling – it was my fave non-combat pet at the time, and I just have to have a li’l one I could sit on my desk.

Several years on, this is definitely one of my better Western figures, and a testament to the quality of Blizzard’s figures. Would recommend it to anyone who likes its look, as long as you can get it for a non-super-scalp-y price. I got a ridiculously good deal on this figure, looking back.

Lucidique 12″

OK, so I haven’t totally banned myself from buying stuff… Found this in a store for a good price, though it is damaged. Think I paid a fair price, given the damage – she still looks cool though:

The weapon in her right hand has had the end snapped off, there’s supposed to be one more hook she holds in that hand instead, and a couple of her horns have the ends missing, though this isn’t particularly visible from the front.

Here’s a close-up of her face:

Yeah, she’s lookin’ at you :).

Here she is next to the smaller Lucidique I already owned:

About twice as tall – note the hook in the right hand of the smaller figure – that’s the one missing from the larger one. I do have the weapons for the smaller one, but they’re currently in storage.

When I was buying this figure, I asked the store-owner “can I have a closer look at Lucidique?” (as she was high on a shelf). He didn’t know who she was XD. Should’ve have asked if I could take a closer look at the figure that looks like it jumped out of Clive Barkers’ imagination :P. Instead, I asked if I could have a look at the figure next to the Torchwood one…

She currently stands next to the 12″ Pinhead figure, and they look great together 😀

Matoi Figma

Finally, she’s here! Feel like I’ve been waiting a lifetime for this to be re-released, especially as her release was delayed. The re-release had good timing – had not long watched Kill La Kill, when the re-releases were announced. T’was an instant pre-order!

And she doesn’t disappoint – the joints feel good, and I love her ‘angry face’.

Full body shot:

And a shot of her back:

Love the details on this figure, and I don’t have any large complaints about her. Scissor sword in the slightly open holding hand doesn’t always like to stay put, but the other holding hands are a bit tight. Think I did heat it up a bit to get her to grip a little harder. She does come with the other half of the scissors, but decided to not put that on display.

Ryuko also looks great next to Satsuki:

Pleased to have the pair, without having to break the bank :).

Variable Action Heroes Devilman

After last month’s overspend, I have decided to dial back somewhat this month and this was ‘the purchase’. Was thinking of buying a bunch of Devilman stuff off Mandarake, but found this for a good price on Amazon, and shipped within the EU, so no import duty either :D.

He’s an awesome-looking dude, and his body has much poseablity, which makes him a fun figure. Here’s his wings and tail, which come detached in the box:

He also has another pair of hands as fists, but haven’t used these – much prefer the claws. Here’s his back showing the attachment of the wings:

They’re on a ball joint at the bottom, giving some poseability, but sadly, not a lot. There’s also a hinge at the “elbow” of his wings so you can do silly things like this:

Largely, this joint isn’t particularly useful for posing imo, but… it’s there. Sadly on one side, it doesn’t allow you put the wing “together” properly, which I’ve seen on other people’s pics of him. Here’s a pic showing that:

Here’s him from the side, after I managed to get him “flying” on my spare PAK stand:

And standing is by far the hardest thing he does! Even with the PAK stand, he’s a bitch to get standing and stay standing, due to the wing weight. If you wished to display him wingless, you’d probably have a much easier time of it… but man… those wings. The above shot also shows an annoying flaw with mine – one wing has a bit of purple paint smear :(. Seeing as I bought it from a reseller, it’s not really worth the faff of seeing if they’ll do anything about it tbh.

Other than that, he’s really well painted, and has a very striking appearance. He has a lot of flexibility in his joints, though I’d wish for a bit of redesign in the wings to allow them to flex more. His middle might have one too many joints – wouldn’t mind getting rid of the bottom one so he doesn’t keep trying to hip-thrust!

All in all, I think he was a good purchase, and I’m pleased to have him :).

Morty

So this post was supposed to be two figures… but on arrival there was only one. Further inspection revealed I was only billed (thus far) for one figure, and the other one is “awaiting stock”. D’oh.

So here he is:

Hm. Well. I don’t have much positive to say about this figure. Kinda wish I didn’t buy it now :(. He bends at the elbows and knees, but not at the hips or shoulders… Those joints merely wiggle in and out a bit. One of his feet also has a habit of falling off, if moved. So yeah. Here’s the back:

Nothing much to see here! Move along!

I’ll probably keep these as they’re Rick and Morty, but if some decent quality figs come along I’ll be sorely tempted to sell these and trade up. Half-expecting these to bargain bin at some point.

Jersey Devil

And here’s the third and final figure I bought from the same seller:

A li’l cute Jersey Devil. Yeah, he likes to be called cute, I’m sure of it!

Here he is from the side, showing off his horns:

And his back:

Whilst he does have articulation, it isn’t the best. I also have him stuck with some white tack under his feet, so that he’d stay up for the photos – he’s really hard to balance!

He works far more as a display piece than a poseable figure – the sculpt and paint are nice, but there isn’t much articulation, and there’s not a right lot you can do with what’s there. Could’ve also done with a peg hole, to help with the balance issues, but hey, white tack works, and his feet are big enough you can stick him down and it won’t show.

Hellboy! Anung Un Rama

Here’s a character I’ve been thinking of getting a figure of, on and off through the years. And now I finally have one! Without completely breaking the bank. This is the second of three figures I bought from the same seller:

Seems like wide stances is a thing for this Mezco range of figures… I’ve put his gun in the holster for now, as I’m currently too lazy to go downstairs to warm up his hand XD. Here he is from the side, with the fire crown more in focus:

Doing some searches, I don’t actually have the fire crown in the right place in my photos… ah well XD.

Here he is from the back:

The seller had a handful of the Hellboy variants – chose to go for this one, as I prefer the look of Hellboy in his “full” form. Mmm, nice horns.. and here is a closeup of them:

Is a nicely-painted and sculpted figure… and this one doesn’t have any blue blobs of Abe :P. Just wish these Mezco figures were less forced to look like they’re riding an invisible horse!

Abraham “Abe” Sapien

This was one of the three figures in my first purchase at Horror Con in Birmingham. I wasn’t planning on going, but my husband saw one of his friends was exhibiting his books there, so we went for an impromptu visit :D. So I ended up spending most of my November budget in October… oops.

Second to robotic things, I like amphibious things. I love Abe’s design and colour. Unfortunately it looks like he got a little too close to Hellboy in the factory and he has a dot of red paint on his right arm – is visible in the above picture.

He also has some nice finnage going on:

The belt is an extra – he has a belt to go on his belt XD.

And here he is saying hi with all his gear on:

The rebreather collar snaps on satisfyingly, and stays shut, though I’ll display him with his gearless head, as per the first pic. The other head has found its home on a twist-on wire connector (Americans are probably more familiar with these). that lives on top of my monitor.

He also came with a baby Sammael:

Aww, cute :P.

Drossel von Flugel

Decided to buy a chunk of stuff from Mandarake, and first thing into my basket was this Figma. Been looking at buying a Drossel figma, but the aftermarket prices on most sites were too much.

image

And now I finally have her :D. Not familiar with the media she’s in, but love the design. The figma seems nicely detailed:

image

She’s nice, white n’ shiny :D. Not exactly clamouring to watch the original content, as it’s a joint Disney thing, and I don’t tend to be into anything Disney, and it’s a bunch of skits.

Still, she’ll happily join my collection of robotic and half-robotic things 😀

Parfom Saber

Been seeing these Parfom figures, and been attracted to ordering them, because it’s a rare instance of finding something attractive and cute. This was one of four I had pre-ordered.

So here she is, outta the box:

image

I think they’re a little on the pricey side for what they are, but for the most part, the sculpting and painting is well done, and the articulation seems to work fine, though I’d like a little more range on her left arm for posing.

She comes with both versions of her sword:

image

Which is nice. Though one thing I didn’t picture was the back of the scabbard and sword, as on the former there seems to be a minor bit of a scratch, and there is a bit of misplaced blue paint on the hilt. Not quite enough to bother complaining about for me, as I’m not likely to have the back visible.

Here’s a side shot of her:

image

There is a bit of light marking above her ear, which I’m not convinced is intentional, but again, it’s not really noticeable enough to bother me.

She also came with 2 other faces, and one other pair of hands (she has a gripping pair and a splayed pair, but I have one of each equipped), and another sword effect:

image

By default, she came with the “grim determination” face, but I think the smiling one fits this figure a lot better.

If you’re prepared to pay a decent bit for a small but detailed articulated figure, then I’d say go for it, if not, I’d give it a pass. I much prefer the proportions on these figures to Nendoroids, so I’d rather pay the bit more for one of these than a Nendo.

Post-Post-NORCON

After dinner on the same day, my husband got bored, so we went shopping. We arrived at a small shopping complex not long before Smyths shut. In my mad dash around Smyths, I picked up two items.

The first was a zombie chicken jokey:

image

He has a large clear plastic bit, to ensure it stands up, which is useful:

image

So not so aesthetically pleasing from the side, but I don’t find this to be an issue.

And the second was a Nano Metalfigs Harley Quinn:

image

For its size and price, it’s not a bad little figure. If I’m in the vicinity of a Smyths again, I might see if they have any of the other characters I like, but some do look rather suspect.

We also visited TK Maxx, and I picked up a Suicide Squad Joker figure, for a price I was willing to pay:

image

He looks OK, but does have a case of “wanking hand” and nothing to hold.

Here he is from the back:

image

Not too much to see here, but there is detailing on his jacket.

On the Sunday, we visited a Toys R Us, and I picked up a Domez blind bag. The figure I got was…:

image

Bane! My favoured ones would have been Catwoman and Joker, but Bane was a solid option. The sculpt on this is OK, but the paint job is a bit meh (see mostly his right hand…) The white mark is actually a bit of fluff on the dome, rather than a scratch.

Here’s his backside:

image

Bane currently lives as a dash ornament, and seems to stay still on the anti-slip matting, despite my husband’s driving…so he’ll stay there for the time being. Despite the paint job, I may pick up some more of these or the Deadpool ones if I see them at a reasonable price.

Post-NORCON goodies

After visiting NORCON, I went for a wander around Norwich.

On my winding way to a comic book shop that I had located via the use of Google Maps, I passed through several interesting shops. My first pickup came from an antiques store, but wasn’t very antique, with a copyright date of 2012:

image

He didn’t have a box, but he’s in good condition, and is the Marvel Select Avengers Movie Hulk. This figure manages to have a decent amount of “presence”.

Second thing was a

Silurian Warrior

from Cash Converters:

Not much of a Dr Who fan, but I do love some of the creature designs.

When I finally got to the comic book shop, they had a couple of the DC designer figures at a good price, and I chose to buy this one:

image

And turn him around….

image

Bwah!

For those who don’t like the Two Face meets Joker head, the “default” one was a much more normal head:

image

Side of the head:

image

I was also looking at a Harley Quinn, but the paint job on it was a bit suspect, so decided against it.

NORCON!

Went to NORCON t’other weekend, and came out with much loots. Some at the con itself, and some in Norwich itself. This blog will cover the items I bought at the con

First up, we have Deadpool! An’ a big one at that:

image

He’s happy to be outta the box! And apparently famished from the journey to his new home:

image

He came with plenty of accessories:

image

And two heads. First one is with half-a-mask:

image

And the second is this bizarre contraption!

image

Which has a movable jaw, and spinning propellor. Here’s a view of the side of this head:

image

I also got a Walter White from the same seller:

image

And some bonus accessories, of one not mentioned on the box:

I have one of him in a yellow biohazard suit, but I wanted a Walter that was in his normal getup, so happy to get this one, and cheap too! These Mezco figures do lack articulation, but the sculpts are detailed and well done. There’s some small areas of sloppy paint, but from a small distance, they are some nice-looking figures.

Next we have an Xenomorph Lurker from the Hiya toys.

Most of the places I’ve seen selling these, the price was too high to bother for such a small figure. On opening and playing with this figure, I’m glad to have not paid more than £15 for it. The detail is nice, but the interchangeable hands, whilst nice, seem a bit overkill for such a figure. The joints, especially at the elbows are a bit awkward. Some of them are a bit reluctant to be joints, and some aren’t particularly stiff, which is probably largely due to the joint type and size. The tail poses nicely.

Here’s a Borg figure I picked up:

This figure looked better “in the flesh” than I expected, and the price was right, so I picked it up.

This particular borg figure doesn’t seem to come up for sale as much in the UK as some of the other Playmates ones, and this one looks more detailed and nicer than the other ones. However, the accessories gave me a laugh (they weren’t visible in the packaging):

Interesting colour scheme they have there! Base isn’t properly painted (skimped around the Borg symbol) and rather cumbersome, so I switched it out for a Reaction base. Ah, figures from the 90s.

Just as I was leaving, I spotted a Species II figure I considered buying some months ago, then forgot about:

She also comes with this standee, but due to its size, this one’s gonna stay in storage, at least for now:

She also come with a closed-mouth head, but didn’t photograph that. Not too much to see with it.

Like the Borg figure, this is one that’s easier to get in the US than the UK, and if it does come up for auction, it’s usually a pretty high price, so was happy to get this for a tenner.

And that concludes my NORCON loot!
